Description

The Pelizaeus Merzbacher Disease Support Group is for families within the United Kingdom affected by Pelizaeus Merzbacher disease, sometimes called Pelizaeus Merzbacher brain sclerosis or PMD. This is a rare inherited disease that affects the central nervous system and is associated with abnormalities of the white matter of the brain. Symptoms may include impaired ability to coordinate movement, developmental delay, involuntary muscle spasms, and progressive deterioration of intellectual function. The group is a support group for families that provides a quarterly newsletter with family updates. It focuses on families rather than on professionals.
