About Urology Care Foundation

The Urology Care Foundation is committed to promoting urology research and education. They work with researchers, healthcare professionals, patients and caregivers to improve patients’ lives. The Urology Care Foundation is the official foundation of the American Urological Association (AUA) an organization of roughly 19,000 urologists. They used to be known as the AUA Foundation. Their vision is to support urology research and to be the top provider of up-to-date and dependable information about urologic health for patients and the public. They provide patients, healthcare professionals and caregivers with accurate and up-to-date educational materials about urologic problems. They base all of their information on the AUA guidelines. These guidelines set the standard for quality patient care. They focus on funding urologic research to find new treatments and improve the quality of patients’ lives. They believe that urologic research is very important to improving patient care. Their programs have provided funding and support to the urology research community for more than 35 years. the prevention and cure of urologic diseases through the expansion of medical research and the education of healthcare professionals and the public. Such urologic diseases include bladder cancer, urinary incontinence, urinary tract disorders, interstitial cystitis, kidney stones, benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate cancer, prostatitis, and sexual dysfunction. Established in 1987, the foundation sponsors a Research Scholars Program to encourage physicians to conduct research into urologic diseases, provides appropriate referrals, engages in patient advocacy, and offers networking services. AFUD also offers a variety of educational materials including brochures, pamphlets, and a quarterly magazine entitled “Family Urology.”
