Restricted Research Fund Gifts

Donations can be made for research on a particular rare disease. Learn more about NORD’s research grant program and how you can donate to a restricted research fund.

Bequests and Planned Gifts

You can include NORD in your estate plan through a bequest or charitable gift annuity.  A bequest is a provision in a will that establishes a gift to be transferred from an estate to a charitable organization. Establishing a bequest can be as simple as adding a few sentences to your will. There are a number of different types of bequests you may want to consider.

Gifts of Stock

Gifts of stock present an alternative to an outright gift of cash.  A stock gift helps provide support services for people with rare diseases while providing the donor with tax benefits. The value of the stock is tax deductible upon transfer and there is no obligation to pay taxes on the capital gain of the appreciation of that stock.

Monthly Gifts

As a monthly donor, you can help assure consistency and continuity in NORD services. You can become a sustaining donor online by selecting “I would like this to be a monthly donation”. After you make this preference known, your contributions will be charged automatically to your credit card or checking account. You can also contact NORD directly and we will be happy to help you set up a monthly gift program.

Workplace Giving or Matching Gifts

NORD is a registered charity for the Health 1st – America’s Charities, a federation for workplace giving campaigns (CFC #11992). Additionally, your employer may have matching gift programs that will allow you to enhance the impact of your gift. Charitable employee campaigns provide an easy way to donate to NORD since donations are automatically deducted from paychecks. Simply fill out a campaign pledge card indicating the amount of your gift and designate NORD as the charity of your choice.
