NORD Adds New Videos on Genetic Testing to Rare Disease Video Library

Categorized in -

The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) has added new animated videos in English and Spanish on Genetic Testing for Rare and Undiagnosed Diseases to the NORD Rare Disease Video Library.

Advances in genetic testing have made it possible to reduce the time to diagnosis for many people living with rare diseases. The purpose of these new educational videos is to increase awareness and understanding of genetic testing, particularly in underserved and underrepresented populations. NORD is increasing its reach to a broader audience.

NORD identified questions about genetic testing to answer in the videos from its social media followers, member organizations and Rare Disease Centers of Excellence. Answers are presented in an engaging animated format and cover topics such as “What genetic tests are used to diagnose rare diseases?” and “Why should I consider genetic testing for me or my child?”.

The NORD Rare Disease Video Library features videos on rare diseases and related topics for patients, caregivers, students, professionals and the public. It was launched in 2019 and resides on the NORD website which receives over 2 million visits per month.

The new videos on genetic testing were made possible through educational grants from Horizon Therapeutics and Alnylam Pharmaceuticals. NORD is solely responsible for the content and partnered with Osmosis from Elsevier for video production.
