The National Association for Continence (NAFC), originally known as Help for Incontinent People, is a non-profit, self-help organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with urinary incontinence. Incontinence is a condition in which one loses bladder control. Established in 1982, the organization is a source of education, advocacy, and support to the public and to healthcare professionals regarding the causes, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management alternatives for incontinence. NAFC's purpose is to be the leading source of education, advocacy and support to the public and to the health professional about the causes, prevention, diagnosis, treatments, and management alternatives for incontinence. The NAFC's objectives are to de stigmatize incontinence; to provide consumer information; and to provide advocacy and service for those who are affected by this problem. To achieve its objectives, NAFC offers a wide variety of publications and services.
