Working at NORD

At NORD, our employees are the heartbeat behind our urgent work to help people affected by rare diseases. There is an opportunity for everyone on our dynamic team. Whether you are working on the front lines of public policy or in our call center, leading efforts in research, membership, or patient care, building community, planning world-class events, or building groundbreaking IT infrastructure, you are a valuable member of our team. Across the organization, we adhere to a set of core values that guide our decisions—and just like our motto, we believe that we are stronger when we work together.

Headquartered just outside of Boston, MA—the biotech hub of the United States—we also have locations in Washington, DC, and Connecticut, within the New York City metropolitan area. We strive to foster an inclusive environment where talented individuals are welcomed and thrive.

Our Story

NORD was founded by a small group of advocates who were patients and family members of people with rare diseases. We began as a coalition that formed to mobilize support to pass the Orphan Drug Act of 1983. Since then, our organization has continued to stand up for the needs of the rare disease community and has remained laser-focused on our mission of elevating the patient voice and putting patients first. We value collaboration and teamwork in tackling the challenges our community faces. Together, we have led the way for innovations in rare diseases for 40 years. We are proud to have been recognized as a top nonprofit by Charity Navigator, Great Nonprofits, and Candid.
